When your legs start to get tired at the end of an epic day riding at Heavenly Mountain Resort, you will start craving that apres ski beer and appetizer. After a full day on the slopes, nothing tastes better than a crisp cold beer, and some refueling sustenance. But where should you grab this apres ski beer? If you are riding on Heavenly Mountain in South Lake Tahoe, there are multiple watering holes all around town. Depending on where you have started and ended your day on the slopes of Heavenly Mountain, there is going to be a beer not far away. Here are our top apre ski spots to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe!
Apres On The Mountain
When you just aren’t ready to leave the on-mountain scene, head to Tamarack Lodge at the top of the Heavenly Gondola. From 3:30pm – 5:30pm Tamarack Lodge at Heavenly transforms from your typical mountain day lodge, to an apres party like no other! Aptly named Unbuckle, loosen up those ski or snowboard boots and enjoy a live DJ, Heavenly Angels dancers, gear giveaways and of course food and drink specials. Heavenly offers tickets to ride the gondola to Tamarack Lodge, even if you did not ride the slopes. Everyone in your group, skiers and non skiers, can enjoy the Unbuckle Apres Party at 9,150 feet! Unbuckle your boots and prepare to have an awesome time. Don’t forget to take an Epic Mix photo to capture the memories.
Apres on the California Side
If your vacation rental is in California, then you most likely will begin your day at the California Base Lodge of Heavenly. When it is time for your apres drink, head to the Himmel Haus that is located just one street down from the California Base Lodge parking lot. This German style restaurant and bierhaus has a great atmosphere and even better authentic Bavarian inspired food and German and Belgian beers. With over 30 beers to choose from, you might be there for a while! This spot is a favorite of locals, and definitely worth the stop for an apres ski drink.
Apres on the Nevada Side
For those staying in a vacation rental on the Nevada side of the South Shore, chances are you are starting your day on the mountain from Stagecoach or Boulder Lodge. If this is the case, then The Fox and Hound Bar and Smokehouse is your apres ski destination. Recently remodeled, The Fox (as it is fondly referred to by locals), features a wrap-around bar with ample seating, gaming and views of the mountains beyond. With great beer and food specials, this is a must stop when ending your day on the Nevada side. An added bonus, they are also open for breakfast daily at 7:30am.
Apres In The Heavenly Village
If you choose to head down the mountain rather than staying at Tamarack Lodge, the Heavenly Village has multiple apres ski options to choose from. Our favorite spot is the setup in front of California Burger Company and AZul Latin Kitchen. They have a stage, fire pits and Adirondack Chairs out on the patio where you can enjoy appetizers, beers and specialty cocktails while listening to live local music. If you are hankering for something stronger than a beer, these two watering holes have got you covered. California Burger Co. has over 100 different types of whiskeys and AZul Latin Kitchen has a whole wall of tequilas. Pair your drink with tacos, burgers or any other delicious selection from their menus and it will be the perfect end to a perfect Heavenly day. Just around the corner is the third restaurant in this family, Base Camp Pizza Company. Here, enjoy craft brews, live music, outdoor seating, and in our opinion, the best pizza in town!
