Winter is starting to melt away, which means our daydreams have switched from powder days to lake days. Which means it is already time to start thinking about your summer plans, specifically for Independence Day. South Lake Tahoe is the best place to be to celebrate the Fourth of July, whether you are planning on spending it with family, friends or a romantic getaway with your significant other. If visiting South Lake Tahoe over the Fourth of July is in your plans, here are just a few things you have to look forward to. If it is not on your Summer 2016 plan, make it!
PERFECT WEATHER
You cannot get better weather than on a summer day in South Lake Tahoe. South Lake Tahoe receives an average of 249 sunny days during the year, and an average temperature in July of 79 degrees. Thus, you are almost guaranteed sunny, gorgeous weather for your July 4th vacation. There is also little to no humidity in Tahoe, a welcome change for those from the coastal areas. With nighttime temperatures dipping into the 40’s, you can get a refreshing night of sleep before waking up and doing it all over again.
UNLIMITED BEACH DAYS
What else is there to do over your Fourth of July holiday than relax at the beach? South Lake Tahoe has the best beaches in all of Tahoe to do this. Due to how Lake Tahoe was formed, Tahoe South beaches are all long stretches of sand (rather than the pebbles that the North Shore has). Also, due to our position in relation to the sun, the beaches in South Lake Tahoe are in the sun all day. And when we say all day – we mean all day long. You can hit the beach in the morning, and play in the sun until pm. Just don’t forget your sunscreen! Pick your favorite beach (because there are a lot to choose from), and set up your picnic and beach toys.
FOURTH OF JULY BARBECUES
An evening barbecue is the best way to culminate a busy day at the Lake. Head back to your vacation rental, and fire up the grill. Buckingham’s luxury vacation rentals come with use of a grill. Stock up on your favorite July 4th barbecue food: burgers, hot dogs, sausages, corn on the cob and finish it off with some red, white and blue cupcakes. Bring up a game of ladder ball or corn hole and have a friendly family competition while the food is cooking!
FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS & SHOWS
The summer concert lineup is already stacked with some great artists. Currently, Slightly Stoopid will be headlining Friday July 2nd at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey’s. Kick off your holiday weekend with some good tunes and dancing. As we get closer to July, more events and concerts will be announced . Many restaurants that are located on the lake, like Edgewood and Riva Grill, will have fireworks viewing parties. This is a great way to get a front row seat, without battling the crowds.
LIGHTS ON THE LAKE FIREWORKS
There are many fireworks shows that take place around Lake Tahoe, but the best one every year occurs right here in South Lake Tahoe. The Lights on The Lake Fireworks show kicks off at 9:45 pm on Monday July 4, 2016. The barge for the fireworks sets up on the Nevada side, right off of Nevada Beach near Edgewood Tahoe. There are many viewing parties at different restaurants, or you can set up right on the beach and watch them overhead. If you are fortunate enough to have a boat (or rent one), head out on the water and watch the July 4th Fireworks show go off right above you!
WHERE TO STAY
If you are coming up to South Lake Tahoe for the July 4th holiday, it is never too early to start looking for your vacation rental. Many lakefront vacation homes book up a year in advance, so start thinking about what you are looking for and search for available dates. However, you can get a vacation rental that is walking distance to Lake Tahoe for a fraction of the cost of a lakefront rental. If privacy is more your thing, rent a home out off of Pioneer Trail and you and your family can be immersed in the forest, only a short drive away from the festivities. Whatever is your preference, let us help find you the perfect spot for your Fourth of July holiday in South Lake Tahoe.
