South Lake Tahoe has an abundant selection of top fine dining restaurants. Whether you are looking for a juicy steak, or prefer a delicate fish dish, South Lake Tahoe will have what you are craving. Being that South Lake Tahoe is a small city, we have more fine dining restaurants than any other area on Lake Tahoe.
The ladies of Buckingham were asked about their favorite fine dining restaurant in Tahoe South. Here is our compilation for an evening of fine dining in Tahoe South.
Chart House
Located midway up the mountain on Kingsbury Grade, this fine dining establishment has fabulous views of Lake Tahoe from above the trees. They are a self-proclaimed “legendary seafood restaurant,” and have an extensive menu of fish, steak and selection of wines to pair with your meal. Choose from appetizers such as the classic Shrimp Cocktail, Chilled Lobster & Shrimp Rolls, Kim Chee Calamari, and our favorite the Shrimp, Crab, Avocado & Mango Stack. For dinner, choose to continue the seafood journey with multiple different fish entrees to choose from, or switch over to a Prime Rib or Filet Mignon. Can’t choose between fish or meat? Have the New Wave Surf & Turf and get the best of both. Their signature dessert is a Hot Chocolate Lava Cake: “Rich, warm cake with molten center, made with Godiva® liqueur. Topped with chocolate sauce, Heath® bar crunch and vanilla ice cream.”

Samuri Sushi
Enjoy fine dining Japanese style! The ambiance is great for both a date night or a bigger party. If you have a large group, you can reserve the private Tatami room for your event. Sooth your appetite and begin with some Japanese BBQ Ribs, Edamame, Green Mussels or the Volcano (“seared tuna surrounding a mound of spicy scallops”). You then have to make the hard decision what to eat next! You can take your pick from Nigiri, Maki Sushi, salads, entrée plates, noodles and of course the specialty roles. There are so many options that you will leave the restaurant wanting to come back and try more. Our favorite sushi rolls are the Tahoe Roll (tuna, yellowtail, salmon and shrimp tempura), Caterpillar Roll (eel, cucumber, topped with avocado) and the Dragon Fry Roll (salmon and shrimp, deep friend with garlic, onion and special Samurai sauce).
