We have made it to October, and already had our first snowfall! It is now safe to say that many of us are saying goodbye to Summer and looking forward to Fall weather! Fall is a season of warm days going into crisp night temperatures. The leaves on our Aspens start to change with the changing in the temperatures and our wildlife can be seen preparing for winter. And although Fall in Tahoe is called the ‘shoulder season’ or the ‘off season’ it is still packed with shows, events and activities for both visitors and locals.
Oktoberfest at Historic Camp Richardson
When: October 3rd and 4th from 10:0 AM – 5:00 PM
Where: Historic Camp Richardson
What better way to kick off the first weekend of October, with Oktoberfest at Historic Camp Richardson. During this two-day event Camp Richardson gets transformed into a Bavarian party with a beer garden, German food and desserts, craft booths, Pumpkin Patch, face painting, costume contests for owners and their pooches and of course the famous ‘Gruber Family Band.’ They will have you yelling beer drinking chants and dancing around right when you arrive (sometimes even when you are in line for beer)! Fall Fish Festival
When: October 3rd and 4th from10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Where: Taylor Creek Visitor Center
After you have enjoyed some tasty brews and brats, take a stroll down the sidewalk to Taylor Creek and watch a variety of fish species make their annual fall migration to spawn. This festival is a favorite for children and adults alike. Aside from watching fish spawning at your feet, you can get educated with talks from Forest Service biologists, a the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services’ giant inflatable fish, treasure hunt and Trail Runs on Sunday. If you are any sort of rock music fan, you are most likely familiar with Gregg Allman. He is a founding member of the Allman Brother’s Band, popular in the early 1970s. Sadly the two other founding members of the band died in back to back years and Gregg Allman developed a solo career, in addition to continuing to play Allman Brother’s Band music. His style is self named ‘Southern Rock’ and he excels in it in every way as a singer-songwriter, keyboardist and guitarist. More Information.

Rock legend Peter Cetera will be at MontBleu showcasing his distinctive voice with his seven piece electric band, “The Bad Daddy’s.” Cetera has had two musical careers, the first with the rock group ‘Chicago’ and the second his solo career. Chicago recorded 18 memorable albums, and since his solo career Cetera has added ten more albums to his repertoire! His shows feature songs from both careers. More Information.
Lake Tahoe Marathon

Where: All over Lake Tahoe
Starting Thursday and going through the weekend, you can partake (or watch) in a whole number of different races. The Lake Tahoe Marathon features events for all skills, ages and athletic ability. Some of the popular events include, the Historic Fun Run to Nevada Beach, Nevada Half Marathon, Cal-Neva Marathon, Carnelian Bay Half Marathon, South Tahoe Open Water Swim (multiple distances), 5 mile kayak race, Mountain Do Duathlon, 5K Super Hero Pumpkin Run, Midnight Express 72 Mile Ultra and the Lake Tahoe Marathon. The Tall Timber Ball – Steampunk Party
When: October 9th at 8:00 PM
Where: Valhalla’s Grand Hall
Steampunk came from science fiction, and the style features steam-powered machinery with an Edwardian or Victorian twist. The first Tall Timber Ball will feature costumes, a photo booth, theme corners and a silent auction. There will be a prize for the most unique look of the night. Alpine Aspen Festival

Keep Sierra Clean Day

Help keep the trails you love to ski on clean by volunteering at the Sierra-at-Tahoe Keep Sierra Clean Day. Ride the lift up and walk down the trails and pick up trash. Feeling ambitious? You can walk up the trails too! There will be live music from Abalone Grey, a free waxing station, and clothing discounts. Bring your gloves and get ready to do some good on the mountain!
