Kids may be back in school, but that does not mean summer is over! Mother Nature certainly seems to think otherwise, as our weather recently has been Summer-Perfection. Those lucky enough to be in South Lake Tahoe right now, get to enjoy gorgeous sunny weather on crowd-less beaches. For those that are back on the school schedule, Labor Day is your last summer hurrah. And what better place to spend it than South Lake Tahoe?
There are plenty of scheduled events happening in town, and all the normal summer activities are still in full swing. I know we don’t need to twist your arm too much but here are a few of the major events you can enjoy!

The annual Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race takes place over Labor Day Weekend along the southeastern shoreline of Lake Tahoe. It is the battle of the states, with the Nevada MS Dixie II versus California’s Tahoe Queen. They will race four miles to find out who is the fastest in the South Shore. Watch from the shoreline, or you can even ride on one of the boats!
Heavenly Mountain Run
September 6
If running up a mountain is more your cup-o-tea, then you can choose to partake in the Heavenly Mountain Run. Runners have the pleasure of running from the California Base Lodge up Maggie’s to Hellwinkles and along the California Trail to the Tamarack Lodge! Climbing 5.9 miles and ending at 9,150 feet above sea level, this is not your average Sunday jog. Once you have run up the mountain, enjoy the gorgeous views and ride the Heavenly Gondola back to the village.
