We made it through the July 4th holiday, but guess what – the week of the American Century Championship is just as popular, if not more so for vacationers to come spend time in paradise! And since it is such a popular time to visit Tahoe, the whole week is jam-packed with fun concerts, activities and events for the whole family to enjoy! Here are just a few of your choices:
Kick off this fun-filled week with country star Tim McGraw on Tuesday night when he plays at the outdoor arena at Harveys! You don’t have to be an avid country music fan to enjoy this show. Didn’t get tickets? The great thing about outdoor shows is you can hear the music while hanging out in town!
The American Century Championship is back for its 24th year, and really could be considered the biggest event of the Summer! Starting on Wednesday and continuing through till Sunday, this event is one the whole family can enjoy. Watch celebrities like Michael Phelps, Aaron Rogers, and Ray Romano tackle this challenging course. Practice round starts on Wednesday, and the Championship Friday – Sunday. Tickets go from $15 to $25!
Where else can you be entertained by the works of Shakespeare and look out over the most beautiful lake in North America? Head to Sand Harbor for the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. Dig your toes in the sand and watch a production of A Midsummer Nights Dream. If you can’t make it this week, don’t worry the show runs every week (multiple days a week) until August 25th. Spend the day the gorgeous sandy beach at Sand Harbor, and then in the evening bring a picnic dinner and prepare to be entertained! Tickets from $15 – $80.
Don’t want to spend any money? Why not head over to Lakeview commons on Thursday for a free concert!? Ride your bikes from your vacation rental and set up to listen to some blues-Rock & Roll music from Achilles wheel with special guests Lonesome Locomotive. Featuring a bike valet, local vendors, and a beer garden – this really is a favorite weekly event for both locals and visitors! Show starts at 4:30 and the sun doesn’t set until 8:30! Did I mention its free!?
Or if you would rather stay around the casinos, Slightly Stoopid is putting on a show at the outdoor stage at Montbleu. Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm. Tickets go from $37.50, first come first serve general admission seating!
More than one country star is gracing South Lake Tahoe with their musical soundings: Rascall Flatts and The Band Perry are in town! If you are not to tired from a full week of fun, head to Harvey’s and dance around to both these popular country bands.
If you happen to be into electronic dance music, get some sleep before Saturday! MontBleu is putting on an all day/all night electronic dance music festival! Doors open at 4pm and you can dance around to Bass Camp, EXCISION from British Columbia. Featuring The Executioner Video & Lighting Installation, fresh off the heals of this years Coachella Festival. Tickets are only $35.
