FAQ When Reserving A Vacation Rental | Vacation Rental Questions Tahoe

How Long Has Buckingham Properties Been in Business?   2013 is Buckingham Properties 10th Anniversary! We will be celebrating our anniversary in October of this year.

How Do You Come Up With Your Cleaning Rate?   Here at Buckingham, we take pride in having some of the best caretakers to personally care for our luxury homes. Each home has a private caretaker that knows the home like the back of their hand. The cleaning rate also covers all sample products in the home. With your stay, you will be provided a start-up package of toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies including laundry detergent. For longer stays and ski leases, we recommend purchasing extra at the nearest grocery store. All kitchenware, linens and towels will be provided, as well.

Is the Quote Online My “Out-the-Door Total”?   When you click “Check Availability” on a specific home, you will receive the nightly rate quote times the amount of nights you inquired about. This quote will not include cleaning, the damage waiver, service fee, and taxes. As you move through the online booking process, you will find the total quote for your stay. Or you can call the office at 800-503-0051 to speak with someone who can assist you.

What are my payment options?   We offer a substantial discount on your reservation for paying your balance by check instead of credit card. In order to receive this discount, you will need to make your booking over the phone with one of our Reservation Agents. In addition to check payments and credit card payments, we also take money order, cashier’s check and wire transfer for those guests overseas.

Do We Meet Someone at the House to Check in?   Buckingham Properties offers what we call “Express Check-In”. Our homes have lock-boxes at each property. Your caretaker will set the property for your arrival and you will find information on check-in procedures in your “Pre-Arrival Packet”.

How Do We Use Your Mobile App for Our Reservation?   After booking with Buckingham Properties, you will shortly get an email from our Mobile Application. This email will contain instructions on how to access your “Pre-Arrival Packet”. You can also download our Mobile App on your IOS or Android smartphone. All that is required is the email address you used to book and your check-in date.

What is the “Damage Waiver”?   Your booking contains a $50 damage waiver.  This damage waiver covers your party up to $3000 in accidental damages to the property. This $50 is non-refundable.

What is the difference between the Damage Waiver and Security Deposit?   Some houses will collect a damage waiver as well as a security deposit. The damage waiver covers accidental damages to the property. The security deposit that you pay covers your party if there is “malicious” damage to the house. We like to describe the difference in a short story: If you were to accidentally drop a lamp on the floor and break it, this would be covered under the damage waiver. If you were to throw the lamp out the window, this would be taken out of your security deposit.

Do You Offer Any Discounts?  Buckingham rewards all returning guests a 5% discount on every return trip to South Lake Tahoe. We proudly offer a 10% military discount with proof of service. We also offer a 5% discount to those who provide us with an AARP or AAA card.

When Will We Get Our Security Deposit Back?   Legally, your security deposit will be returned within 3-weeks of your departure, though we normally get it back to you sooner if there are no issues. If anything needs to be taken out of your security deposit, these will be itemized in a letter with your returned check.

Can We Bring More People Than the Home Occupancy?   Unfortunately, our occupancy limits are set by the County in which the home resides. The limits are a legally binding limitation on your party. These occupancy limits are not negotiable.

Do you have Holiday nightly minimums?   Our holiday minimums vary by holiday. They range from 3-night minimums on Holiday weekends up to a 7-night minimum over New Years. Please call the office if you would like to inquire as sometimes these minimums do not apply.
