The South Shore has a great bowling alley if you are looking to get out for a night while staying in your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental. Tahoe Bowl is located in the center of town and is open 7 days a week year round. Inside they have 16 lanes, arcade games, Lane 17 Sports bar (with a billiard table and large flat screen TV’s) and a Blue Dog Gourmet Pizza… fun for the whole family!

Bowling in Lake Tahoe
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010Virginia City
Monday, April 19th, 2010If you are looking to do a little sightseeing outside of Lake Tahoe during your South Lake Tahoe vacation, Virginia City is a great place to check out. It is located northeast of Carson City and would take approximately and hour and a half to get there, but well worth the drive! It was established in the mid-1800′s during the gold rush and was originally a mining town. Built in the “Old West” days, not much has changed over the years so you will get a feeling of being transported back in time! There are a number of Old West saloons (including the famous “Bucket of Blood Saloon”), restaurants, gift shops, mine tours and museums. Virginia City is also appropriate for all ages, making it a great day destination for the whole family; they have some great activities for kids. I have also heard their cemetery is quite incredible to see, although I haven’t seen it personally.
Sport Fishing in Lake Tahoe
Friday, April 16th, 2010Thinking about adding some fishing to your South Lake Tahoe vacation? I highly recommend Tahoe Sport Fishing Co. They launch from two locations on the South Shore, at the Ski Run Marina on the California side and the Zephyr Cove Resort on the Nevada side. They have the largest fleet (5 boats) out of any company in Lake Tahoe and have been fishing on the lake since 1953! They include all the fishing gear, tackle and bait that you will need, along with coffee, rolls and soda (lunch is available on request). If you don’t have your fishing license, they can provide you with a day license. They offer morning, afternoon and all day trips (lunch is included in the all day trips) as well as private charter trips and sightseeing tours. They also clean and sack your day’s catch and can even arrange to have your fish delivered to selected Lake Tahoe restaurants for lunch or dinner!! Some of the fish found in Lake Tahoe are Mackinaw (Lake Trout), Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Kokanee Salmon.
